An entrepreneur is someone whole forms a business entity in order to make money, then a soloprenuer is someone who wants to make money through a business entity where YOU ARE YOUR business.
Basically if you STOP doing the business, the business stops.
You might be a knowledge worker, using your know-how, skills and experience to mentor, coach, train and consult on a specific topic. Or you may have a physical skill and service or even a product you want to sell.
Solo-preneurial business are one man bands, sole trader businesses or limited liability companies where the person earning the money is the owner.
A solopreneur may engage services of others as employees, associates or on a freelance basis, in a business support function, but in essence if the owner isn't driving the business, seeing clients and selling themselves, the business stops and the money dries up.
There are many benefits to being a solo-preneur. The buck STOPs with you. You ARE the boss.
There are a few downsides too. The buck stops with YOU! and you are the BOSS!
But in this economy, many many thousands of people are taking the plunge.
Your overheads are much lower, working from home, with laptop, internet and phone. Items many home owners already have as resources they can use.
As a result you can provide a more cost effective, flexible solution than many larger companies.
